Hurricane Isaac

Well we've survived Hurricane Isaac! Thanks to everyone that was thinking of us during the storm. While some areas of Louisiana had problems with major flooding and levee toppling, we managed to have few side effects from the 5 1/2 inches of rain we got yesterday. And unlike thousands throughout Baton Rouge and Louisiana, our power stayed on the whole time. Here's a little video of the weather conditions yesterday - the porch was a great spot to watch the storm roll on throughout the day! Now it's time for yard cleanup...

Isaac Prep

Travis drove all the way from Kingsville, Texas to be home with me for my first hurricane. We spent Tuesday doing some preparations, like emptying the gutters and trimming the trees off the roof. We also stocked up on all necessities to get us through the storm. Now it's time to wait it out - it's gusty with a little rain, but perfect porch weather right now. We'll share any updates we have so long as we have power!

A Souvenir

I don't generally buy the classic souvenir when I'm traveling, but I like to pick up something as a reminder of the trip that I can regularly use. I still covet my bright pink tweezers from Paris and fear traveling with them at the thought of losing them in luggage.
Our trek from Las Vegas to Idaho, and back to Vegas was a great two weeks and I needed something to remember it by, when I stumbled upon this quirky Hoola Hooping plate from Anthropologie. The perfect momento to remember a hoola hoop contest won and a great weekend with friends. It's sitting on the shelves near the sink and I laugh every time I look at it.

For 765 / 3

A few more pieces from the For 765 Pinterest board. It's kind of surprising how two out of the three have wood on them, considering I'm usually trying not to add any more. Chairs are in regular rotation on the board and those would fit in perfectly, though we probably can't fit another in the house. That clock/calendar is just plain awesome. And the shower head would make for an attractive solution to not opening up the bathroom wall.
