Harvest / 2

What's left of our garden after the heat took it's toll has finally started ripening. Tomatoes are becoming more abundant, and we've got almost too many red bell peppers.
A bit of good mozzarella and the chance to use just a smidge of our basil bushes made this Caprese salad the perfect evening dinner.

Man Cave

It was undeniable that the shed would become the Man Cave once it was rebuilt. It's where the men automatically retreat to when they are at 765, where Travis' organizational skills shine, and where ladies can be kicked out. (Even my mom.) To commemorate his space I had the '765 Man Cave' bottle opener made for his birthday from here. It doesn't get much more official than that.

Paper

Can you believe it has now been over a year that we've been married? Time flies! I liked the idea of making our anniversary gift something for 765 that we could have forever.  To follow with the traditional paper gift I found these typography maps of our home states from CAPow! on Etsy. Hung on our 'sides' of the bed, they make the room feel personalized and a little more complete.

Looking ahead to next year I'm already liking the potential for a home gift with cotton. Maybe some towels?

Crabbin'

The story Travis likes to tell is that crabbing is what got me to Louisiana. While it wasn't the only reason, I'd be lying if I said I didn't like filling up an ice chest of crabs, boiling them for our friends, and still having some left over for the freezer.
And we did just that for Cinco de Mayo. Even better though, this time we got to bring a first timer! Our friend Holly joined us bright and early then stayed late for crab cracking (and coronas), and lived to tell about it. You can find her fabulous article about our adventure here!
We had a good haul, but it was still early in the season. A few more trips out to our spot are a must.

First Harvest

We got our first harvest of the season yesterday!
The bell peppers had toppled the plant there were so many of them, and the zucchini amazed me at how quickly it grew. Chopped up and thrown on the bbq for dinner- it doesn't get much fresher than that.
